Some are situated in locations of magnificent beauty, some offer fishing that is totally unforgettable and others offer an experience that will endure the tests of time. Regardless of why, these Alaska Highway campgrounds are a must visit on our list of all time favorites.
Tetsa River Outfitters has a small campground located at Historic Mile 375 of the Alaska Highway is the undisputed champion in the quest to deliver stemming hot fresh baked breads and amazing giant cinnamon buns. You will hear people talking about their experiences at the wilderness bakery for hundreds of miles in both directions.
Summit Lake Campground located at Historic Mile 392 on the Alaska Highway has to be one of our all time favorite campgrounds for its unequaled beauty and for all of the easy hiking available from the campground. This crystal clear alpine lake is located at 4,250 feet elevation and is the highest point along on the Alaska Highway.
Strawberry Flats Campground on Muncho Lake offers some amazing scenery from the waterfront campsites along this turquoise blue glacial fed lake. Moose, bears and sheep are all scene in the area making Muncho Lake a popular stop among travelers.
MacDonald Campground also on Muncho Lake offers a boat launch with a dock for those looking for a great place to go fishing or sight seeing.
Teslin Lake Campground located just north of the town of Teslin on the shores of Teslin Lake. The beach is perfect for evening walks where the Teslin Lake Bird Observatory has been monitoring the local bird migrations since 2005.
Timber Point Campground on the shores of Teslin Lake offers no hookups but the lake-side RV and tenting sites are exceptional and affordable too. Firewood is provided for you to make sure your visit is one of leisure. Be sure to check out the lake with the canoes and kayaks available to registered guests.
Discovery Yukon RV Park and Campground just 30 miles from the Alaskan border is one of the best campgrounds located on the Alaska Highway. This is a larger facility that offers everything from tent camping areas to full service rv sites. There are cabins and wall tents for rent and a family style longhouse of historic heritage. Stroll the free historical museum that surrounds the campground, hike the trails or enjoy the pasture like area of the old airstrip. Ultra clean, meticulously maintained and historically enlightening, Discovery Yukon Campground is one you don't want to miss.
Cottonwood RV Park and Campground located on Kluane Lake offers a great view, some really good fishing and two meticulously hand built log cabins for rent are second to none.
