Gas prices along the Alaska Highway
NOTE: Alaska Highway fuel prices for gas and diesel are listed in litres so converting litres to gallons by multiplying by 3.75 will aid in comparing Canadian fuel prices to U.S. gas prices. (1 US gallon is equivalent to approximately 3.785 Canadian litres).

Compared to the prices stateside you will experience a noticeable increase in the gas prices along the Alaska Highway. While these prices on the Alaska Highway will be higher than what you find in the lower 48 states, planning your fuel stops can save you considerably if you take these few insurances.
Begin your trip with a full tank of fuel. Fill up in Dawson Creek before you depart. From here, plan your fuel stops in the major towns like Fort Nelson, Watson Lake, Whitehorse and Haines Junction. Additionally, there are a number of lodges that offer fuel along the Alaska Highway including some of our favorite stops like Pink Mountain, Contact Creek and Toad River Lodge. Additionally, Buckinghorse Lodge, Tetsa River Lodge and others offer fuel too but the price can be a bit higher. Once in the Stone Mountains fuel prices jump considerably. Northern Rockies Lodge on Muncho Lake was the highest prices we encountered last summer but considering where they're located it's understandable.
Examples of fuel prices from the Alaska Highway from our Christmas trip in December 2014. Note that these are old prices used to reflect the variances common to the cities.
